Masindi: The Masindi Magistrate’s Court has committed the suspects in the murder of the former Masindi District Health Officer, Dr. Jino Abiriga, to high court.
Betty Cherotich, the deceased’s wife, Martin Kipsang, and Joshua Namureng, on Thursday, April 4, 2024, reappeared before the Masindi Chief Magistrate Court, presided over by Kosiya Kasibayo, for mention of their case.
Aganyira Munanura Alinaitwe, the Masindi Resident State Attorney, told the court that the investigations into the case have been concluded and that the state is ready to proceed with the case.
This prompted Kosiya to commit the suspects to the high court, which has the jurisdiction to hear their case.
Kosiya told the suspects that they would be informed by the high court when the hearing of their case began.
The suspects were later taken back to prison amidst tight security by the prison warders.
Dr. Abiriga was murdered on January 7, 2024, and his body was dumped in the neighbor’s compound about 50 meters from his home in Kijura north cell, central division, Masindi Municipality.
