Shock as residents discover abandoned baby casket in River Nkuse
Authorities continue to monitor the situation, warning against illegal ritual practices that prey on desperate individuals seeking quick riches.

Kagadi: Residents of Pachwa Town Council in Kagadi District were left in shock on Friday after discovering an abandoned baby casket filled with rags and polythene bags, dumped in River Nkuse.
The mysterious discovery drew widespread attention from both local leaders and security officials, sparking concerns within the community.
Police, led by Officer-in-Charge of Pachwa Police Station, Kasaija Sebandeke, arrived at the scene to investigate the incident. The authorities later burned the casket to dispel fear and speculation.
Sebandeke urged residents to always report such suspicious incidents to law enforcement for proper handling.
Some residents believe the casket was discarded by someone who may have been deceived by traditional healers promising wealth through ritual practices. This has reignited concerns over the influence of witchcraft-related beliefs in the area.
Businge Geoffrey, the LC3 Chairperson of Pachwa Town Council, cautioned residents against relying on superstition and ritual practices in the pursuit of wealth.
“You should focus on hard work and education instead of resorting to superstitious practices in the pursuit of riches,” he urged.
Authorities continue to monitor the situation, warning against illegal ritual practices that prey on desperate individuals seeking quick riches.
