Shock as Kagadi residents discover decomposing body of cleaner in rented room
By press time, police had taken the body to Kagadi General Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem examination to establish the exact cause of death.
Kagadi: Residents of Kagadi Central in Kagadi Town Council, Kagadi District, were left in shock after discovering the decomposing body of a woman inside her rented room.
The incident occurred on Tuesday morning when residents noticed a strong foul smell and swarms of flies coming from one of the locked rooms in the area.
Concerned locals alerted authorities, who later confirmed that the body belonged to Nakate Annet, a 30-year-old casual worker in the town.
According to residents, the deceased worked as a cleaner at the MTN Number One shop and Stanbic Bank in Kagadi Town. She also earned a living by washing clothes for various people in the area.
Caroline Kusemererwa, one of the residents, criticized the growing tendency among especially young people to live in isolation, saying it can delay rescue efforts during emergencies.
She urged community members to maintain communication and stay connected with neighbours and relatives.
A relative, John Senkomi, the paternal uncle of the deceased and a resident of Nyakasozi in Isunga Sub-county, said the family was shocked by the incident.
He revealed that Annet had previously suffered from syncope, a condition that causes sudden fainting, which relatives believe could be linked to her death.
The late Nakate Annet is reported to be the biological daughter of Birungi Beatrice, who currently resides in Kampala, while other family members live in Isunga Sub-county in Kagadi District.
By press time, police had taken the body to Kagadi General Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem examination to establish the exact cause of death. No official statement had yet been issued by the police spokesperson.
