Security rescues ten trafficked children in Kagadi
The children will be repatriated to their homes as the police continue to carry on their investigations.
Kagadi: In a joint operation conducted by the police in collaboration with Resident District Commissioner Kagadi, Lillian Ruteraho, the police have rescued over ten children who were being trafficked.
The suspect has been identified as Israel Twesige, a resident of Bugwara trading center Bugwara Parish Kicucura sub-county Kagadi district who has been involved in child trafficking with his colleagues identified as Kayondo and Nsabimana Steven of the same village.
Isingoma Joseph, village chairperson Bugwara explained that they received information about children being used to seek assistance from other people.
He added that the suspected child trafficker started the school dealing in skilling people with disabilities, but later on he started collecting children from different districts in Bunyoro and Tooro subregion, promising them a standard and quality education.
The operation to arrest the suspects was conducted by the Kagadi police in collaboration with Resident District Commissioner Madam Lillian following reports of a missing teenager from one of the parents in Kyenjojo district.
The children have been taken to Kagadi central police station, where they will be repatriated to their homes as the police continue to carry on their investigations, and the children will remain at the police station until their families are traced.
