SAD! Two dead, 12 injured as three vehicles collide in Nakasongola

Nakasongola: A fatal accident on Tuesday evening in Nakasongola District has resulted in two deaths and twelve injuries.

The incident occurred around 6:08 PM at Bujaabe village, Nakitoma Subcounty.

According to Sam Twiineamazima, the Police Spokesperson for the Savannah Region, the driver of an Isuzu Elf, who remains unidentified, died at the scene, and a young child in the Toyota Hiace succumbed to their injuries upon arrival at Kyiryandongo Hospital.

The crash involved three vehicles: an Isuzu Elf (registration number UBP 557B), a Nile Star Isuzu Bus (registration number UBD 215R), and a Toyota Hiace (registration number UBR 783N).

Twiineamazima stated that the accident unfolded when the Nile Star Bus, traveling behind the Toyota Hiace towards Gulu, lost control after its front tire detached, hitting the Toyota Hiace.

The bus then collided head-on with the Isuzu Elf, which was heading to Kampala.

Upon receiving the report, police quickly responded to the scene, documenting the incident and transporting the injured victims to Kyinyogoga Hospital.

The bodies of the deceased were taken to the Kyinyogoga Mortuary for postmortem examinations. All vehicles involved in the crash have been towed to Nakitoma Police Station for further inspection.

The investigation into the cause of the accident is ongoing.
