SAD! One dies, four injured as truck overturns in Buliisa
A number of vehicles have overturned at the same spot since the road was tarmacked.
Buliisa: One person has been confirmed dead and four others injured after a fuso fighter truck registration number UBL 758P overturned at the Butiaba escarpment along the Biiso-Buliisa road in Buliisa District.
The incident happened on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at around 1 p.m. at one of the very dangerous sharp corners.
The LC1 Chairperson for Bukumi village, Mr. Michael Anwang-Kani, has identified the deceased as only Michael, 30 years old, a resident of Kampala City.
The fuso truck that was towering over Biiso police station was ferrying twenty businessmen, with twenty heads of cattle and sixteen goats coming from Auction Market in Buliisa District, heading to Kampala.
According to him, one person died on the spot, four others were left critically injured, and six goats also died instantly.
The chairperson also explained that, as other victims said, when the animals on board turned on one side of the truck, the driver lost control and it overturned.
The Buliisa District Police Commander, ASP Chrysostom John Mwaule, confirmed the incident, stating the deceased body was taken to Buliisa General Hospital Mortuary and the injured were rushed for first aid treatment.
Unfortunately, this is not the first accident to happen at the escarpment; a number of vehicles have overturned at the same spot since the road was tarmacked.
