SAD! Masindi man found dead in house after not being seen for days
However, after residents saw hovering flies from his rental, police broke the door and discovered him dead.
Masindi: Residents of Nyangahya Cell Central Division in Masindi Municipality were left in shock after discovering the body of their own decomposing in the house.
The deceased, identified as Richard Kibegenya, 45, was discovered on Sunday July 21, 2024 by a resident after seeing flies hovering out of his room.
The deceased person has been staying alone.
Kakoge Elizabeth, the LC1 Chairperson for Nyangahya Cell, explained that she was informed by a resident that there was an odor and flies hovering from the deceased’s room.
‘’This prompted me to rush to the scene, and we discovered him dead and in a state of decomposing in the house. I’m told he has been staying alone because his nephew has a farm in Hoima, where he works.’’
Kakoge disclosed that the deceased was last seen on Thursday last week at the taxi park where he was working. She emphasized the need to inform the area chairpersons about those who stay alone so as to always be checked on.
Franklyn Kazaana, a nephew of the deceased, told this publication at the scene that he received a phone call from a resident informing him that Kibegenya had been found dead in the house.
According to Kazaana, he last met with the deceased on Thursday in one of the bars in the town, and then on Friday he proceeded to his farm in Hoima district.
‘’He contacted me on Thursday last week, and I told him that I was on the way to Masindi from Kampala. When we met, he told me that he would come back home late.’’
Kazaana suspects the deceased to have succumbed to alcohol since he was a drunkard.
Tegras Isingoma, the LC2 Chairperson for Southern Ward, led the police from Nyangahya Police Post that retrieved the body and handed it over to the relatives for burial.
Police could not readily comment on the matter by press time.
In March this year, residents of Unini Village in Nyantozi subcounty, Masindi district, were also left in shock after discovering their colleague decomposing in his house.
The deceased, identified as Francis Onenchan in his late 20s, a resident of the same area and teacher at Trinity Nursery and Primary School, Kasenene, was discovered dead in his rented room after missing for three days.
Before the incident, he went to the school and requested money to go and bury a relative in Kiryandongo district.
However, after residents saw hovering flies from his rental, police broke the door and discovered him dead.
