SAD! Masindi man found dead in house
This year, Masindi district has witnessed several tragic incidents of individuals being discovered dead in their homes, sparking grief and concern among the local communities.
Masindi: A casual laborer was tragically found dead in his home in Kyamwita cell, Kigulya division, Masindi district, on Saturday morning.
The deceased, reportedly in his early 60s, had been working for Francis Kigenyi, the town clerk of Kabango council. The vice chairperson of Kyamwita cell, John Friday, mentioned that the deceased was last seen trapping grasshoppers the previous evening and had shown no signs of illness.
Kigenyi, who planned to spray his garden with the deceased’s assistance, went to his house in the morning and, upon receiving no response, looked through the window and discovered the body.
The matter was reported to the LC leadership, who notified the police. The authorities then entered the home, removed the body, and transported it to Masindi Hospital for a postmortem examination. Grasshoppers the man had trapped were also found in his house.
Efforts to get comments from Kigenyi and the police were unsuccessful at the time of reporting.
This year, Masindi district has witnessed several tragic incidents of individuals being discovered dead in their homes, sparking grief and concern among the local communities.
In the latest case from September, Robinson Ahaabwe, a 37-year-old boda boda rider from Kibwona Cell, Karujubu division in Masindi Municipality, was found dead in his home.
Ahaabwe, who operated from the Rutumba stage in Masindi town, was last seen on Sunday, reportedly under the influence of alcohol. Concerned colleagues and his employer, Margaret Asaba, noticed his absence from work and later discovered him deceased in his home.
This incident follows two similar occurrences earlier in the year. In July, 45-year-old Richard Kibegenya was found decomposing in his home in Nyangahya Cell, Central Division, after neighbors noticed flies around his room. Kibegenya had lived alone, and his discovery shocked the community.
In March, another tragic discovery was made in Unini Village, Nyantozi subcounty. Residents found Francis Onenchan, a young teacher in his late 20s from Trinity Nursery and Primary School, dead in his rented room.
Onenchan had been missing for three days before his body was found, following his request for leave to attend a family burial in Kiryandongo district.
These repeated occurrences have highlighted issues of isolation and concern for vulnerable community members, prompting calls for greater community vigilance and support.
