SAD! Man defiles, strangles 4-year-old girl

On Thursday, at about 10.30 a.m., with Nakimuli's help, community members discovered Namwanje’s body in the bush.

Nakasongola: The police in Nakasongola District have mounted a search for a yet-identified man for allegedly defiling and later strangling a 4-year-old girl.

The incident happened on Wednesday at about 1 p.m. at Wangoiro village in Nakitoma Sub-County. The victim has been identified as Sharon Namwanje. She was a pupil at Good Times Nursery and Primary School.
Sam Twiineamazima, Savannah Regional Police spokesperson, confirms the development.

According to Twiineamazima, preliminary findings indicate that Namwanje and her 6-year-old sister, Tendo Nakimuli, were walking home Wednesday from Good Times Nursery and Primary School when they encountered the suspect.

The man reportedly befriended the sisters by offering to buy them pancakes.

He then took Namwanje into a nearby bush, leaving Nakimuli waiting. Upon reaching home, Nakimuli reported the incident to their father, Mwanje Fred, prompting a joint search with the locals that continued fruitlessly until nightfall.

The following morning, on Thursday, at about 10.30 a.m., with Nakimuli’s help, community members discovered Namwanje’s body in the bush.

Twiineamazima told URN that police responded swiftly, documenting the scene and collecting evidence. The body had signs around the genitals that indicated the victim had been defiled and strangled, based on how the neck appeared.

The body, he says, has been taken to Nakasongola Health Centre IV for a postmortem examination. The police add that they are actively searching for the suspect to bring him to justice.
