SAD! Boda boda rider murdered, motorcycle stolen

Namisindwa: Namisindwa police are actively searching for assailants involved in the killing of a 23-year-old boda boda rider, who was murdered and had his motorcycle (registration number UGG 151Z, Bajaj Boxer) stolen.

The victim, identified as Wakhata Ivan, suffered severe head injuries from deep cuts, which were determined to have been caused by a sharp weapon. An examination of the body was conducted, and it was subsequently handed over to the relatives for burial.

The incident was reported by Nyaranga Hassan, a 40-year-old boda boda chairman and resident of Netibu cell, Butemulani ward, Lwakhakha Town Council in Namisindwa District.

According to police, the deceased, Wakhata Ivan, was a boda boda rider from Nalondo cell, Bukibayi ward, Lwakhakha Town Council.

The murder took place in Lukhuna cell, Bukemo ward, Lwakhakha Town Council on the night of January 16, 2025, at an unknown time. Police spokesperson Rogers Taitika stated that the deceased was last seen on January 16, 2025, at the boda boda stage in Lwakhakha during the evening hours.

However, on January 18, 2025, his body was discovered near the Lwakhakha River in a bush by passersby, who alerted the boda boda chairman. The chairman subsequently reported the discovery to the police.

It is also alleged that the assailants stole the victim’s motorcycle, which has not yet been recovered. Police are gathering intelligence to locate the assailants and the stolen motorcycle, as investigations continue. The deceased’s body has been returned to his family for burial.
