SAD! Another Kagadi resident found dead in water source

Her body was discovered floating next to a jerrycan, and police from Kyabasara Police Post responded.

Kagadi: Tragedy has struck Rwentale A village in Burora Sub-county, Kagadi District, after a 25-year-old man, Ronald Tumwijuke, was found dead in an open water source on Tuesday.

The deceased is believed to have drowned while fetching water. His body was discovered floating next to a jerrycan, indicating he may have been collecting water at the time of the incident.

Local reports reveal that Ronald had a history of epilepsy, which could have contributed to the fatal accident.

Police officers from Burora Police Post visited the scene, retrieved the body, and later handed it over to the family for burial arrangements. Investigations are ongoing.

AIP Paul Afeiko, Officer-in-Charge of Burora Police Post, urged families not to neglect individuals with epilepsy and appealed for increased efforts toward their medical care and protection.

Meanwhile, Vincent Tukwasiibwe, LC1 Chairperson of Rwentale A, called on the government to invest in safe and protected water sources. He warned that open water points not only pose a drowning risk but also serve as breeding grounds for waterborne diseases.

This incident mirrors a similar tragedy that occurred last month in Kasonga Village, Pachwa Sub-county, where a 20-year-old woman, Karabyo Annet, also believed to have epilepsy, drowned while fetching water.

Her body was discovered floating next to a jerrycan, and police from Kyabasara Police Post responded.

Authorities continue to emphasize the urgent need for improved water infrastructure to prevent such avoidable deaths and safeguard public health.
