Respect for leaders key to national development – Brig. Gen. Ddamulira urges new patriots
She emphasized the importance of unity, discipline, and personal growth in contributing to community development.

Namayingo: During a pass-out ceremony held on April 8, 2025, at the Namayingo District Headquarters, Brigadier General Christopher Ddamulira, Director of Crime Intelligence in the Uganda Police Force, urged newly trained patriots to respect their leaders and uphold discipline.
A total of 3,680 students graduated under the National Patriotic Program in Namayingo District. Brig. Gen. Ddamulira, who was the chief guest at the ceremony, emphasized the importance of patriotism in creating responsible citizens and fostering national unity.
Brig. Gen. Ddamulira explained that respecting leaders whether cultural, religious, or governmental is essential for a well-organized society.
He further referenced the Bible, which teaches that respect for leadership leads to a harmonious community. He also warned the new patriots against engaging in behaviors such as alcoholism, smoking, and prostitution, which he said could ruin their futures.
The Namayingo Resident District Commissioner, Nalongo Kwesiga, also addressed the graduates, urging them to put their newly acquired knowledge into practice. She emphasized the importance of unity, discipline, and personal growth in contributing to community development.
The National Patriotic Program, coordinated by the National Secretariat for Patriotism Corps (NSPC), aims to instill a sense of national pride, responsibility, and unity among the youth. The initiative, established in 2009 by H.E. the President of Uganda, supports patriotism clubs in post-primary schools and institutions across the country.
The event was attended by various security officials and stakeholders, highlighting the community’s commitment to fostering positive change.
