UG Decides 2026

Renowned Journalist Walyaula nominated for  Mbale LC5 Chairperson seat

“The time for change is now. We must rise above partisan politics and work towards a brighter future for all Ugandans,” Emmanuel emphasized.

Mbale: In a significant development ahead of the 2026 general elections, renowned humanitarian journalist Walyaula Emmanuel has been officially nominated to contest for the position of Chairman LC5 for Mbale District.

This nomination marks a major milestone in Emmanuel’s public service journey, as he transitions from a decorated career in journalism and humanitarian advocacy to a leadership role aimed at delivering transformative change in Mbale.

With over a decade of experience, Emmanuel has built a reputation as a fearless journalist and committed humanitarian. His work has focused on exposing corruption, amplifying the voices of marginalized communities, and fighting for justice and equality.

These efforts have earned him widespread admiration, but have also led to multiple prosecutions, as he has consistently challenged the status quo.

His decision to contest for the LC5 seat has generated optimism among residents and political observers, many of whom believe his leadership will uplift Mbale District’s governance and social services.

“This nomination is not just a political move—it is a continuation of my life’s mission to serve the people and stand for what is right,” Emmanuel said following his nomination.

Earlier this year, Emmanuel made headlines when he resigned from the National Resistance Movement (NRM), expressing disappointment over the party’s failure to meet the expectations of ordinary citizens.

He has since joined the Uganda Patriotic Movement (UPM), a party that aligns with his values of patriotism, unity, and people-centered development.

“The time for change is now. We must rise above partisan politics and work towards a brighter future for all Ugandans,” Emmanuel emphasized.

The UPM champions national cohesion and equitable development across ethnic, religious, and regional lines principles Emmanuel has long advocated for.
