Publicize the final report for Bugoma boundary re-opening to stop massive encroachment of the forest.

Opinion: The Ministry of Lands , Housing and Urban Developments need to publicize the final report for the Bugoma boundary reopening  to stop the massive encroachment that is taking place in the forest by the Hoima sugar Limited , the Bugoma host communities and the rich business men carrying out sugar cane growing, maize and beans growing, timber  logging  and charcoal burning.

Additionally, the final report for Bugoma boundary re-opening will also reduce on the escalating conflicts between the host communities and the Hoima sugar, arrests of the  Bugoma host communities, increased human- animal conflicts and others.

It is noted since August 2022, when the Bugoma boundary re-opening was concluded by the ministry  of lands, housing and urban development,  a lot of massive encroachments escalated  just because of the failure of the ministry of the lands to produce the final report for the Bugoma boundary re-opening that they  were promised to the public immediately after the exercise.

It is so far ten months after the exercise but the final report for Bugoma boundary re-opening has never been publicized and a lot of activities leading to the massive destruction of the forest are escalating.

The massive destruction of the forest  which has resulted from  the failure by the Ministry of Lands, Housing and urban Development is likely to contribute to finishing up of the forest, disruption of the tourism sector, increased human- animal conflicts because of the loss of their habitant, increased conflicts between the Hoima Sugar Limited and the Bugoma host communities hence leading to loss of lives and increased arrests among the Bugoma host communities and drastic climate change due to the destruction of forest.

To avoid the above likely impacts to escalate, the Ministry of Lands , Housing and Urban Development needs to produce the final report for the Bugoma boundary re-opening in order to show the public the clear demarcations for the Bugoma boundary re-opening exercise.

Therefore I call on the Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban development to expedite the process of producing the final report for the Bugoma boundary re-opening exercise in order save the forest from the massive destruction by the encroachers.
