Police arrest 40 in crackdown on criminals in Arua City

Arua: Police in Arua City have in custody 40 suspected criminals.
They were arrested on Monday, July 29, 2024, during an intelligence-led operation conducted in the areas of Ekarakafe cell, Kirabu cell, Ediofe Trading Centre, Ociba coast, Osu cell, Awindiri cell, and Bamboo village area.
Josephine Angucia, the West Nile Region Police Spokesperson, says that the intelligence-led operation that was conducted together with the community led to the arrest of 40 notorious male suspects for various offenses.
Angucia asserts that exhibits were also recovered and the suspects are in custody at Arua City Central Division Police Station pending investigations.
The regional police mouthpiece adds that at the end of investigations, their case files will be forwarded to the resident state attorney for perusal and legal advice, and upon sanctioning, they will be arraigned before court for trials.
She emphasizes that the purpose of conducting these intelligence-led operations is to clean Arua City of notorious criminals who cause insecurity through thefts, robberies, breaking, burglaries, and other offenses, and it will continue until sanity returns to the city.
