Paidha: Paidha Town Council has launched a major rehabilitation project for its abattoir located in Jupuru, Omua Ward, aimed at restoring the facility’s functionality and improving hygiene standards.

Council officials say the seven-year-old abattoir had significantly deteriorated, with broken window panes, damaged pillars, and worn-out walls, prompting the need for urgent renovation.

Speaking on the development, the LCIII Chairperson of Paidha Town Council, Innocent Godfred Onega, said the renovation project is valued at UGX 13.9 million and is being funded through locally generated revenue.

“The council has prioritized this rehabilitation to ensure the abattoir meets acceptable operational and hygiene standards,” Onega said, adding that the contract has been awarded to Jalom Investment Limited.

According to the Town Engineer, Jacob Kwesigwa, the project has a four-month implementation timeline. Onega emphasized that the council expects the contractor to deliver quality work within the agreed timeframe.

“We expect Jalom Investment Limited to complete the works within four months and in line with the required standards,” Onega noted.
