Over 6,000 households receive PDM funds in Masindi

1,178 households are in the municipality while 4,919 are in the district.

Masindi: At least 6,097 households both in Masindi Municipality and District have received the Parish Development Model (PDM) funds since the program was rolled out in 2022.

1,178 households are in the municipality while 4,919 are in the district.

Ms. Nyangoma Robbinah, the Masindi Municipality Senior Commercial Officer, told ugreports.co.ug that a total of 1.178 billion shillings has been so far disbursed to the beneficiaries in the Municipality.

The funds were disbursed last year in two phases, namely, in March and October 2023, respectively.

Nyangoma asserts that they haven’t disbursed the funds this year since the balance in the bank is inadequate, totaling 650,000 shillings, which can’t be disbursed.

She disclosed that currently they are assessing the PM beneficiaries in the municipality, and so far, 60 have been assessed, and they are performing well.

Nyangoma applauded President Museveni for initiating PDM, asserting that she is optimistic it will elevate people out of poverty.

Mr. Moses Kalyegira Isoke, the district commercial officer, disclosed that so far, 4 billion shillings have been disbursed to the households in the district.

The beneficiaries are from 46 parishes in the 14 sub counties and town councils in the district. Kalyegira notes that so far, the beneficiaries who have been assessed have used the funds for the intended purposes.

He, however, stressed that some beneficiaries have not used the funds for the intended purposes, and such people are being oriented toward mindset change.

The district commercial officer advised the beneficiaries to make good use of the funds because the program aims at improving their household income.

Kalyegira also asked those who registered to be patient since they couldn’t all receive funds at the same time. He further advised them to work hard in order to be able to recover the fund.
