Over 11,000 youths graduate with life skills
The project focuses on economically empowering these youths by creating an enabling environment for them to thrive.

Bunyoro: Over 11,000 youths from the Bunyoro sub-region have graduated after completing a six-month life skills training program organized by BRAC Uganda.
The training was part of BRAC’s Accelerating Impact for Young Women in Africa (AIM) project, which is funded by the MasterCard Foundation.
The AIM project, a five-year initiative, aims to reach out to 222,500 youths who have been living in poverty due to the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The project focuses on economically empowering these youths by creating an enabling environment for them to thrive.
The graduation ceremony for the second batch of trainees from Masindi, Kiryandongo, and Hoima districts took place at Masindi Kolping Hotel recently.
Patrick Okello, the Coordinator for Livelihood and Market Development at BRAC Uganda, who represented the organization’s programs officer, highlighted the project’s goal to support young women in households that had lost financial stability due to the pandemic.
Okello expressed confidence that the skills acquired by the graduates will help them engage in income-generating activities that will transform their lives and improve their communities.
The event was attended by Patrick Asiimwe, the Assistant Resident District Commissioner of Masindi District, who presented certificates of excellence to the graduates.
Asiimwe encouraged the women to take full advantage of such programs and assured them of the continued support from the National Resistance Movement (NRM) government in empowering women.
The graduates expressed their gratitude to BRAC for providing them with valuable skills that have not only economically empowered them but also helped reduce gender-based violence in their communities.
