Ntungamo: The Deputy Resident District Commissioner for Ntungamo, Atuhaire Rosemary, has warned Parish Development Model (PDM) SACCO members against using PDM money to marry other wives or spending it on luxurious ventures.
While launching the disbursement of UGX 100M Parish Development Model (PDM) funds to benefit 100 members of Central Ward Central Division PDM SACCO on Tuesday in Ntungamo Municipality Council Hall, Atuhaire noted that the fund is intended to eradicate poverty at the household level.
She asked young people to work hard and engage in social-economic transformation and avoid wasting time in drinking sprees and nightclubs.
The Assistant RDC in charge of Ntungamo Municipality, Ambrose Tashobya Omugogoozi, implored all PDM Sacco members to desist from fighting their spouses demanding PDM money, saying they would be arrested.
The Municipal PDM Focal Person, Akampurira Amos, urged them to stick to their work plans and guidelines, noting that the technical team will be monitoring the usage of the funds.
Arnold Ayebazibwe Kabahima, the municipal principal agriculture officer, is optimistic that the system will reduce corruption tendencies in the disbursement of PDM funds because of its zero percent tolerance to corruption.
Central ward in Central Division is the first beneficiary of PDM among the six wards in Ntungamo municipality.
Senior Municipal Community Development Officer Rachel Kyarikunda tasked members to keep united and conduct meetings as a group.
She assured other wards that they will also get their PDM funds soon after verification is done.
Elder Patrick Muhangi Kanyate chairman Central Ward Central Division PDM Sacco asked members to always maintain the proper names on all documents rather than keep changing.
The deputy mayor, Kyomukama Loi Tumwesigye, and Municipal Town Clerk, Isaiah Tumwesigye, urged the district leaders to monitor the effective use of the funds and to continuously rally the people to engage in activities that will create positive change in the community.
