NRM will be in power for the next 2000 years, Museveni’s aide
His comment comes at a time when the opposition political parties are torn apart over a number of parties, including scrabbles for leadership and corruption allegations.
Masindi: The Masindi Deputy Resident District Commissioner, Sanon Dhaala, says the ruling National Resistance Party (NRM) Party will be in power for the next 2000 years.
According to Dhaala, President Museveni is still a darling to Ugandans, and he is capable of ruling this country for a long time.
‘’If President Museveni appears on the ballot paper, people will vote for him because he is still a darling, capable of ruling this country and people love him.’’
Dhaala’s comment comes at a time when the opposition political parties are torn apart over a number of parties, including scrabbles for leadership and corruption allegations.
He asserts that most of the opposition political leaders are money-oriented and are not about serving Ugandans. ‘’Most of the oppositions are money-oriented; they are about accumulating wealth but not serving Ugandans.’’
The deputy resident district commissioner said that in the 1980s, most parts of the country had rebels, unlike today.
‘’Every part of the country had rebels, but today you can move from different parts of the country without being attacked or robbed.’’
Dhaala also noted that major roads in the country have been tarmacked, thus boosting transport and business in the country, unlike in the past.
‘’You can move from Eastern to Western, or Northern to Southern or Central, on tarmacked roads, unlike in the past.’’
He stressed that though there are a few challenges, especially in the health department, like inadequate drugs, it has greatly improved health services compared to other governments.
According to John Karuhanga, the coordinator of the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) Bunyoro Sub Region, there is no opposition in the country claiming that they are jokers.
‘’They are all fighting each other; as PLU, we are preparing to succeed President Museveni because there is no opposition in this country capable of succeeding Museveni.’’
Stephen Biraahwa Mukitale, the former Member of Parliament representing Buliisa constituency, asserts that with time there will be no opposition in Uganda.
‘’With time, there will be no opposition in Uganda. Imagine that the NRM has about 300 MPs, the PLU 100 MPs, and other parties 80 MPs. This implies that the PLU will have a leader of opposition who also leans toward the ruling government.’’
