Namisindwa RDC, politicians clash over inflated school enrollment figures
The growing concern about such fraudulent practices highlights the need for tighter monitoring and transparency in the education sector.

Namisindwa: The Namisindwa District has been rocked by a clash between the Assistant Resident District Commissioner (RDC), Bosco Nabboge, and district leaders over allegations of inflated school enrollment figures.
Nabboge has repeatedly raised concerns about exaggerated student numbers in both primary and secondary schools, claiming that these inflated figures are straining his relationship with other district leaders, whom he accuses of being complicit in a coordinated scheme to defraud the government.
Frustrated by the lack of action from the district administration, Nabboge decided to take matters into his own hands, conducting independent monitoring visits to verify the actual student enrollment numbers.
On Wednesday morning, he visited Situyi Primary School in Bumityero Sub-county, where he uncovered a significant discrepancy. Official records listed 491 pupils from Primary 1 to Primary 7, but Nabboge found only 143 students present at the school.
Following this discovery, Nabboge is calling on government anti-corruption agencies to intervene and investigate the alleged fraud, urging swift action to hold those responsible accountable.
However, Namisindwa District LCV Chairperson Jackson Wakweika has criticized Nabboge’s actions, stating that the RDC’s monitoring visits are disrupting government operations.
Wakweika acknowledged that inflated enrollment figures have been a persistent issue across the country, but he argued that the problem cannot be easily solved.
In response to Nabboge’s independent investigations, Wakweika threatened to write to the Minister for the Presidency, requesting Nabboge’s transfer.
On the other hand, Namisindwa District Education Officer Sophie Kuloba refrained from confirming or denying the allegations but assured that the matter would be thoroughly investigated.
This issue mirrors recent events in Rukungiri District, where education officials were remanded by the Anti-Corruption Court over similar cases of inflated school enrollment figures.
The growing concern about such fraudulent practices highlights the need for tighter monitoring and transparency in the education sector.
