Music contest controversy rocks Katakwi

As Katakwi prepares to host the district music competition on Friday, the controversy raises questions about the integrity of the judging process.

Katakwi: A shocking scandal has erupted in Katakwi District after three adjudicators failed to accurately tally scores, declaring the wrong winner in a recent music contest.

The contest, held at Katakwi Primary School, saw Apuuton Primary School announced as the winner with 1312 marks, despite Katakwi Primary School scoring a whopping 13316!

Invited adjudicator Aistine Apeduno revealed that Imalingat David, headteacher of Toroma Boys Primary School, trained Apuuton Primary School’s choir and was also an adjudicator, a clear conflict of interest!

Furthermore, Pius Oler, a teacher at Katakwi Township Primary School, was an adjudicator while his school competed in the contest, raising ethical concerns.

Apeduno urged the adjudicators to correct the results, allowing Apuuton Primary School to accept their true position as runner-up.

Pius Oler has since accepted responsibility for the error, even offering to face consequences for his mistake. However, Imalingat David remains uncontactable.
