Minister Ogwang contributes Shs10 million towards the construction of Angobo Church
This money will help with the roofing of the church building, which requires 200 iron sheets.
Ngariam: Peter Ogwang, the Minister of State for Sports, who doubles as the Member of Parliament representing Ngariam County, has contributed 10 million shillings towards the completion of St. Pakaras Catholic Church-Angobo in Ocorimongin Zone.
This money will help with the roofing of the church building, which requires 200 iron sheets.
While delivering the message on behalf of the Minister, Jorem Obukui said that Ogwang’s commitment to supporting churches and the work of God has been exhibited ever since he started his journey of leadership.
“I am humbled by Ogwang’s contributions towards spiritual development and his social-economic transformation initiatives. We need such leaders who bring services to the people. Ogwang is a true reflection of the people’s leader,” Obukui said amidst ululations from the Christians.
Besides the contribution of 10 million shillings, Ogwang also supported the baptism of 20 infants and other activities as the function went successfully.
Meanwhile, the secretary for education and community-based services in Katakwi district, Hon. Irene Among, said it was hard to see a kind person like Ogwang, adding that his leadership skills have made Ngariam County known throughout the country.
“We should thank God for giving us such a developmental leader who sacrifices for his people. Ogwang is a blessing for us, the people of Ngariam,” he said.
Michael Ateria, the chairperson of the organizing committee, said their church needs Shs 40 million for its completion, and it will house over 1,000 Christians.
Ateria applauded Minister Ogwang for the support, describing him as a people’s savior who understands the challenges affecting his voters.
The main celebrant of the day, Rv. Fr. Olivie Wayesu, who is the parish priest at St. Stephen Catholic Church Katakwi, said Christians should appreciate leaders who offer support for a noble course.
