Masindi couple seeks Shs20mln for baby’s urgent heart surgery

Devine, born on August 22, 2024, developed a heart complication three months later and has since been in and out of hospitals.

Masindi: Denis Kyasimiire, 45, and his wife Imelda Nyamaizi,35, residents of Northern Cell, Central Division, Masindi Municipality, are desperately seeking 20 million shillings to fund urgent heart surgery for their five-month-old baby girl, Devine Ninsiima.

Devine, born on August 22, 2024, developed a heart complication three months later and has since been in and out of hospitals.

Her mother, Imelda Nyamaizi, told this news portal that the baby was first admitted to Masindi General Hospital, where she spent two weeks on oxygen before being referred to Hoima Regional Referral Hospital for specialized care.

At Hoima Regional Referral Hospital, Devine spent another three weeks on oxygen before doctors referred her to Mulago National Referral Hospital, where she was diagnosed with a heart condition requiring surgery.

Nyamaizi revealed that doctors at Mulago recommended surgery within two months, but the family lacks the necessary funds.

“We need Shs 20 million for the surgery, which must be done within two months. We are pleading for help,” she said.

She has appealed to Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja, Minister Balaam, Minister Matia Kasaija, and President Yoweri Museveni to intervene and help save their child’s life.

Devine’s father, Denis Kyasimiire, explained that the family has already exhausted their resources, including selling their plot of land to cover medical expenses.

“We have spent everything we had, even selling our land. Now, we are struggling to pay rent and risk being evicted. We urgently need help to save our baby’s life,” he said.

The couple is appealing to the government, well-wishers, and charitable individuals to help them raise the Shs 20 million required for their baby’s life-saving surgery.
