Landslides claim two in Kabale

The cause of the landslide is currently under investigation.

Kabale: Two people tragically lost their lives in a landslide in Kabale early on October 29, 2024.

The victims, identified as 18-year-old Charles Tayebwa, a local casual worker, and a 17-year-old Rwandan boy named Bosco, were asleep in a house in Rwamacumu, Kamuganguzi sub-county when the landslide occurred.

According to Elly Maate, the Kigezi region police spokesperson, rocks and soil slid into the home of Agrey Rukundo, causing significant damage and burying the two individuals.

The area chairperson, Abraham Nuwagaba, promptly informed the police, who arrived to assess the situation.

The victims were subsequently recovered from the debris and examined for postmortem before being handed over to their families for burial.

The cause of the landslide is currently under investigation.
