Hoima: The Kyabazinga of Busoga, His Royal Highness William Wilberforce Kadhumbula Nadiope IV over the weekend met the Omukama of Bunyoro, Dr. Solomon Gafabusa Iguru I, at Karuziika Royal Palace in Hoima City.
Kyabazinga was accompanied by Cabinet Ministers and members of his royal family.
He was received by senior BKK officials, including Prime Minister Owek. Andrew Byakutaga, the Chairman of the Royal Commission, Omujwarakondo Dr. Kabagambe Kaliisa, the Royal Commissioner, Dr. Joseph Biribonwa, the Secretary of the Royal Commission, Dr. Yolamu Nsamba, and the Chief Prince Owek Mugenyi Fred Ruchunya and the Head of the Royal Regalia Owek George Muhuruzi.
The Kyabazinga was welcomed by a traditional royal brass band, which played traditional royal songs as he entered Karuziika Palace amidst joy and cultural celebration.
He met the Omukama of Bunyoro, His Royal Majesty Dr. Solomon Gafabusa Iguru, and his wife, Omugo Margret Karunga Adyeeri. The meeting was also attended by Kabumba’s sister, Princess Ruth Bushara, Nyina Omukama Owek Margret Nyakabwa, the private secretary to the Batebe Princess Joyce Kabatalya, Dr. Balaam Barugahara Ateenyi, and members of the Babiito Executive Committee, which is chaired by Owek Okwiri.
The Kyabazinga also interfaced with Kabumba’s children.
Kyabazinga said he came to seek the blessings of his grandparents before his wedding on November 18, 2023. He also updated the King about key developments in Busoga Kingdom.
Dr. Yolamu Nsamba, a cultural historian and secretary of the Royal Commission, made a presentation about the historical and cultural link between the Banyoro and the Basoga.
The BKK Prime Minister, Owek. Andrew Byakutaga, welcomed the Kyabazinga and presented possible areas of partnership in the areas of cultural preservation, tourism, and improving household incomes.
The Omukama donated nine cows and one bull, each valued at Shs million, to the Kyabazinga to support him in setting up a livestock farm for his family. After the wedding ceremony, the Omukama will donate eight more cows and one bull to the Kyabazinga, which were handed over to him by the BKK Chief Prince Owek. Mugenyi Fred Ruchunya
Nine is a significant number in Bunyoro. The king sounds the royal drum nine times while assuming the throne, and he repeats the same at each coronation anniversary. Mwenda signifies love. The nine cows signify the king’s love for his grandchildren in Busoga.
The Omukama also gave the Kyabazinga a traditional marriage certificate and his (the Omukama’s) official portrait.
The Kyabazinga appreciated the donations and blessings that he obtained from the King.
