Koboko students arrested for causing strike
Police have increased security at the school to ensure the safety of all students and staff
Koboko: Police in Koboko acted quickly to apprehend student ringleaders involved in civil unrest at St. Charles Lwanga College on October 26, 2024.
According to a police statement, a group of Senior Four students went on a rampage, damaging school property after being warned by the headteacher about unauthorized night movements off campus.
“At around 5:30 PM, the headteacher reported that some Senior Four students threatened the head boy and three teachers after being cautioned about returning late. The situation escalated when students began throwing stones at the school windows and disturbing their peers during late hours,” stated SP Collins Asea, the acting police spokesperson for the West Nile region.
Asea further noted, “A formal case of threatening violence has been filed against the ringleaders, reference number SD 41/26/10/2024.”
Police have increased security at the school to ensure the safety of all students and staff, and a thorough investigation is underway to understand the incident’s full scope.
