Kitgum: Archbishop Janani Luwum Memorial College in Mucwini West Subcounty, Kitgum District, has achieved 100 percent candidate attendance in the 2024 Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) examinations, which commenced a week ago.
According to Mr. Okao Robert, the school’s headteacher, all 88 registered candidates, 55 boys and 33 girls, are currently taking their exams at the college’s examination center. He confirmed that there have been no cases of school dropouts or pregnancies among the candidates.
Okao noted that the candidates have already completed three-quarters of their exams. However, he reported a low rate of school fee payments from parents and urged them to cooperate with the college management. He confirmed that no candidate was barred from sitting for the examinations, in accordance with government policies and Ministry of Education guidelines.
Michael Opwonya, an Executive Board Member of the college, commended the student body for adhering to school rules and regulations, with no cases of indiscipline reported to the Board of Governors’ Disciplinary Committee. He also applauded the dedication of the staff in preparing the 2024 UCE candidates.
During a Board of Governors’ Disciplinary Committee meeting held on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, Opwonya announced plans for a fundraising drive to construct two new dormitory blocks for boys and girls, aiming to enhance learning conditions at the school.
