Kitgum Owino accident victim dies at Kitgum Mission Hospital
Since July 2016, Owino vehicles have been involved in 49 accidents, resulting in numerous fatalities attributed to both human error and mechanical issues.
Kitgum: One of the victims of the August 27th accident involving Kitgum Owino traders at Orom Trading Centre in Kitgum District has died at St. Joseph Hospital, Kitgum Mission.
According to Olara Samuel, the transport officer for Kitgum Owino Traders Association, the deceased is Adong Grace, who sustained injuries in the accident on August 27th, 2024, at Orom Trading Centre.
She was initially admitted to Mulago National Referral Hospital and was later transferred to St. Joseph Hospital, Kitgum Mission, where she was pronounced dead on the night of Friday, November 1st, 2024.
Olara added that the deceased was a passenger in the Nyeko Pe Lonyi Owino truck, with registration number UBG 736W.
The accident occurred on August 27th, 2024, when a Fuso lorry (registration number UBG 736W) transporting vendors to the monthly auction in Orom was involved in a crash at Orom Trading Centre.
The auction is held on the second-to-last Friday of each month. In the accident, 15 people were injured and initially taken to Orom Health Centre III before being transferred to Namokora Health Centre IV. Among the injured, two individuals were reported to be in critical condition.
