Kibaale: A group of enthusiastic NRM delegates in Kibaale District have unanimously endorsed the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Anita Annet Among, for the position of 2nd National Vice Chairperson (Female) on the NRM party ticket.

Running under the slogan “Tested, Tried and Reliable,” Speaker Among has pledged to promote party unity, strengthen service delivery, and champion inclusive leadership within the NRM and beyond.

The endorsement was made during a meeting held on Monday July 28, 2025 at Star Light Hotel in Karuguuza Town. The gathering was attended by key party stakeholders, including Sub-county NRM chairpersons, district councilors, District Executive Committee (DEC) members, and representatives from eight NRM leagues.

The delegates, led by Fred Matovu, the NRM District Chairperson, expressed their unwavering support for Among, citing her outstanding leadership as the current Speaker of Parliament.

However, they also raised key concerns such as the need for the Speaker to visit district councils and provide logistical support, including transportation, to district speakers.

Presiding over the meeting as chief guest, Dr. Emely Kugonza, MP for Buyanja East and head of Among’s campaign taskforce in the Bunyoro Sub-region, praised Among’s deep commitment to the party’s values. He emphasized her potential to shape national policies that benefit marginalized communities.

On behalf of Speaker Among, Dr. Kugonza called for united support, describing her as “intelligent, humane, and committed to empowering women and youth.” As a gesture of appreciation, he handed over a brand-new iPad to Fred Matovu to help enhance communication and understanding of party affairs.

In their remarks, Stephen Byaruhanga Mfashingabo, the Resident District Commissioner for Kibaale and Godfrey Muhonge Kasanga, the LCV Chairperson also rallied support for Among, expressing strong confidence in her proven leadership and vision.

Speaker Among’s five-point campaign agenda includes; enhancing party visibility and legacy, building strong coalitions for national progress, supporting grassroots transformation, promoting accessible and affordable healthcare and deepening youth and women engagement.
