Kakumiro police arrest three over murder, stuck with unidentified body
He says the children informed a boda boda man, who later informed the area councilor, and the body was taken to Kakumiro Health Center IV.
Kakumiro: Police in Kakumiro district have three suspects in their custody over the alleged murder of one Richard Bagonza, a 25-year-old resident of Kabubwa West, Kituma Parish, in Kibiijo Sub County.
Julius Allan Hakiza Albertine Region police spokesperson has identified the suspects as Patience Muzawimana, aged 40, Zapayi Ndagiyimana, 42 years, and Samuel Niyiyena, 25 years, all residents of the above area.
Its alleged that on the night of August 15, 2024, the suspects were in the bar drinking alcohol, and one only identified as Kyakabale, a concubine of Patience Muzawimana, picked a fight with Richard Bagonza, now deceased, over patience.
Hakiza disclosed that Bagonza was buying for patience alcohol, which annoyed Kyakabale, and in the morning of August 16, 2024, the deceased body was found lying on the road by the children who were going to school.
He says the children informed a boda boda man, who later informed the area councilor, and the body was taken to Kakumiro Health Center IV for postmoterm.
In a related development, police in Kakumiro district are stuck with the unidentified body of a male adult approximately 22 years old.
Khalid Ssemate told police that the deceased is a suspected thief. ‘’We have been stealing with him,’’ he confessed before the police.
The police are calling upon anyone who has a missing person to cross-check with Kakumiro Health Center IV to identify the body.
Furthermore, police in the Albertine region are concerned over rampant cases of cattle theft. Hakiza has attributed the vice to the connivance of the herds’ men with thieves.
According to Hakiza, the issue of cattle theft is connected to the herdsmen, saying these herdsmen have friends who are thieves, thus stealing the cattle.
Hakiza urged cattle keepers to make sure they completely know the herds’ men they employ. They should cross-check the backgrounds of these people.
