Kakumiro district council approves Shs2.3bln supplementary budget

The motion raised mixed reactions among councilors seeking clarity on how the funds were allocated to different sectors.

Kakumiro: The Kakumiro District Local Council has approved a 2.3 billion shillings supplementary budget for the financial year 2024/25, raising mixed reactions amongst councilors.

The motion was moved by Grace Tusemerirwe, the secretary for administration, finance planning, and investment, during a council session held on Friday at Rukurato Hall in Kakumiro town council.

The supplementary budget includes 2.178 billion in respect of revoted UGIFT swept at the closure of FY 2023/24.

The motion raised mixed reactions among councilors seeking clarity on how the funds were allocated to different sectors.

With the guidance of the chief administrative officer, Andrew Mawejje, councilors led by Joseph Ajuna Byarugaba, the district speaker, approved the supplementary budget with amendments.

In the same session, Sentayi Joseph Senkusu, the LCV Kakumiro District tabled a motion seeking to appoint Owenda Wycliffe to replace Silvestre Muhonge as Chairperson for people with disabilities on the District Service Commission.

The council session was attended by RDC Kakumiro retired major David Matovu, heads of departments, among others.

Meanwhile, Kagadi District Local Government Council, chaired by Speaker Magezi Muwonge, has approved a supplementary budget worth UGX 1,304,994,998 for the financial year 2024/2025.

This decision was made during a council sitting where Hon. Magezi Jamadah, Secretary for Finance, Planning, Administration, Investment, Production, and Works, presented the motion.

The allocated funds will support various initiatives, including: construction of seed secondary schools: UGX 880,471,292, micro-scale irrigation activities: UGX 101,296,680, production development extension: UGX 107,923,848, and co-funding of farmers to irrigation schemes.

Councilors expressed satisfaction with the approval, despite initial delays caused by administrative issues.
