Kadaga assures continued support for Nyege Nyege Festival

The event, renowned for its energy and diversity, continues to be a highlight of Uganda's tourism calendar, drawing attention from both domestic and international visitors.

Jinja: The 1st Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for East African Community Affairs, Rt. Hon. Rebecca Kadaga, has reiterated her commitment to supporting the Nyege Nyege Festival, a major cultural and tourism event in Uganda.

Kadaga made the assurance while attending the festival in Jinja, accompanied by Busoga Tourism Minister Hellen Namutamba Olga, several government officials, and local leaders from the Busoga region.

Despite the rainy weather, festivalgoers gave Kadaga a warm welcome as she toured various stages of the event, including the Uganda Waragi stage. She was gifted with a bottle of lemon and ginger-flavored Uganda Waragi, a signature local spirit.

While addressing the crowd at the main stage, Kadaga commended the organizers for their dedication to promoting tourism in Busoga and across Uganda.

“This festival plays a critical role in showcasing the vibrant culture of the Busoga region and Uganda at large,” she said. She pledged her continued support, emphasizing the festival’s significance in fostering both local and international tourism.

Dereke Debru, the CEO of Nyege Nyege Festival, also expressed gratitude for Kadaga’s support, praising her for championing the festival’s growth as a key attraction in the region.

“The Nyege Nyege Festival brings together people from all over the world for an unforgettable cultural exchange,” Debru remarked.

The festival, which ran from Thursday, November 14 to Sunday, November 17, 2024, featured an array of music, art, and performances that delighted thousands of revelers from Uganda and beyond.
