Kabale: Grace Ankunda Bekunda, aspiring for the woman MP seat in the 2026 elections in Kabale District, urged the youth to prioritize education for a better future.
She made this call yesterday while addressing Christians at St. Emmanuel C.O.U. Parish Bunyonyi on Bwama Island in Kabale district during the induction of Rev. Dickson and Mrs. Gift Mushabe.
Bekunda encouraged the youth by stating that the current world is different from the past, where one could rely solely on assets like land and animals.
She explained that with the shortage of land for farming and rearing animals, education has become an essential tool for success.
She appealed to parents to prioritize educating their children, emphasizing that education is the best legacy they can leave for their loved ones.
During the ceremony, Bekunda underscored the importance of moral values for youth and called for collaboration between teachers and students to improve primary school performance. She also advocated for the implementation of practice exams to aid students in their revisions.
Furthermore, Bekunda highlighted the significance of preserving Bwama’s historical structures to attract tourists, citing the area’s rich vegetation and historical impact.
In his sermon, Rev. Can Obed Turihohabwe, Dean of St. Peter’s Cathedral Deanery, Diocese of Kigezi, emphasized the values of love and hard work for a better future.
At the same time, the Bishop of the Diocese of Kigezi, Rt. Rev. Gaddi Akanjuna, confirmed 32 confirmants into the Anglican Faith at Katojo Church of Uganda Parish, Rwancerere Archdeaconry, in Kahungye, Ndorwa West County, Kabale District.
In his sermon based on Luke 18:35, Bishop Akanjuna urged Christians to embrace faith in God, stressing its transformative power. He emphasized adherence to family principles and guidelines for prosperity, stating that belief in God alters one’s life path.
According to Bishop Akanjuna, families centered on Jesus Christ are destined for success, contrasting the challenges faced by those without spiritual guidance.
