Jinja: The Jinja District Health Department has welcomed a vital boost in healthcare infrastructure, following the delivery of six solar-powered refrigerators from the Ministry of Health.
The equipment, donated under the directive of Permanent Secretary Dr. Diana Atwine, aims to improve medical storage, especially in off-grid areas.
Each refrigerator is accompanied by solar panels to ensure uninterrupted operation. The units will be distributed to various Health Centre IIs, including Wairaka, Iwololo in Butagaya, Bwidhabangu, and Muguluka, among others.
Jinja District LC5 Chairman Moses Batwala praised the Ministry for the timely intervention, stating, “We don’t show off like others do we deliver before we show off.” He called on health facility managers and local communities to safeguard the valuable assets.
Deputy CAO Bagga Nkurunziza also expressed gratitude, confirming that Measurement Solutions has been contracted to handle installations.
