Irene Gleeson Memorial Charity Day 2024 to celebrate women on the Frontline of Gospel Ministry

Uganda's First Lady, Minister Jennet Kataha Museveni, has been invited as the Chief Guest for the day.

Kitgum: The Irene Gleeson Memorial Charity Day 2024 has been marked to celebrate women who are on the frontline of gospel ministry in the Acholi Subregion.

This announcement was made by the Irene Gleeson Foundation Executive Director, John Paul Kiffasi, during a preparation meeting held at the Foundation’s headquarters in Lulojo, Central Division, Kitgum Municipality.

According to John Paul Kiffasi, this year’s Irene Gleeson Memorial Charity Day aims atkeeping the memories of Mama Irene Gleeson alive within the IGF family and celebrating women on the frontline of ministry who are champions of practical gospel in the Acholi Subregion.

He said the choice aligns with the memory, story, value, ministry, vision, works, and legacy of Mama Irene Gleeson, who dedicated herself to feeding the hungry, looking after the poor, sick, and widows, and caring for vulnerable children, among other acts of compassion.

He also added that awards will be given to the top five women in the Acholi Subregion who are gospel ministry champions, whether dead or alive.

The 2024 Irene Gleeson Memorial Charity Day Central Organizing Committee, chaired by Mr. Komakech Stephen, will host various activities.

These include a debating competition among the four childcare schools, and netball and football competitions on Thursday, July 25, 2024.

The Irene Gleeson Memorial Women’s Conference, a bicycle race, and the finals of the netball and football games, along with athletic and staff competitions, will take place on Friday, July 26th, 2024.

The events will culminate in the Irene Gleeson Memorial Charity Walk from Kitgum Town through Irene Gleeson Road to the Irene Gleeson Foundation on Saturday, July 27, 2024.

This year’s Irene Gleeson Memorial Charity Day will feature memorial services, speeches, and the awarding of prizes and certificates to five women champions in ministry and long-serving staff members.
