Hoima regional blood bank to be commissioned this week
He reassured the public that the 2.9 billion shilling investment would allow the region to process and distribute its own blood products, eliminating past challenges.

Hoima: The newly constructed Hoima Regional Referral Hospital Blood Bank, a 2.9 billion shilling investment, is nearing completion and will officially be commissioned this Friday.
Henry Mutegeki Benda, the blood bank manager, confirmed that Prime Minister Rt. Hon. Robina Nabbanja is set to officiate the commissioning ceremony.
Mutegeki addressed the media at the Hoima City Resident Commissioner’s office on Monday, urging the public to donate blood to ensure the new facility has enough supply to save lives.
The blood bank is now fully equipped to store and process blood, as confirmed by Gilbert Sunday from the National Blood Bank, who oversaw the construction of the facility.
Moses Muyambi, Deputy RCC of Hoima East Division, warned against paying for blood, emphasizing the importance of voluntary donations.
Dr. Ibrahim Bwaga, Hoima Regional Referral Hospital Director, expressed that the blood bank would significantly improve local service delivery, noting that previously, all blood tests had to be done in Kampala, and the region often received less blood than it donated.
Badru Mugabi, Hoima RCC, reassured the public that the 2.9 billion shilling investment would allow the region to process and distribute its own blood products, eliminating past challenges.
He also emphasized that the facility met international standards, and all construction work had been done with attention to detail and value for money.
