Hoima: Police in Hoima City have arrested a man for allegedly posing as a woman and deceiving unsuspecting men.
The suspect, identified only as Muhereza, was an employee at a local bar in Busisi East Division, Hoima East Division, Hoima City. He was apprehended on Tuesday following complaints from residents.
According to Godfrey Mbabazi, the area LCI Chairperson, locals were shocked to learn that Muhereza from Kyenjoj district, who had been presenting as a woman, was actually a man.
“Residents alerted me about a person posing as a woman to deceive men. When I arrived, I found him wearing a bra and impersonating a woman,” Mbabazi stated.
He revealed that one of the victims became suspicious and hesitated to engage intimately with the suspect. In an attempt to uncover the truth, the victim reportedly encouraged the suspect to consume more alcohol.
As the situation escalated, the victim discovered that he had been deceived and immediately reported the matter to local authorities.
Mbabazi urged bar owners to register their employees with local authorities, noting that Muhereza had worked at the bar for nearly two weeks without being documented.
“Bar operators should ensure that all their workers are registered with the local authorities to avoid such incidents,” he emphasized.
He further disclosed that angry residents attempted to lynch the suspect for deceiving men and allegedly collecting an unspecified amount of money through fraudulent means.
“If I had not intervened, residents would have lynched him because he had already duped several men,” Mbabazi added.
Authorities are investigating the incident to determine the extent of the suspect’s actions and any potential charges.
