Five arrested over murder of fisherman

As the deceased was going home, the suspects followed him, and since then he has went missing.

Kagadi: Police in Kagadi district are holding five suspects in connection with the murder of Gard Mugisa, a fisherman and a resident of Nyamalembo C, Ngoma parish, Bwikara Sub County in Kagadi district.

The suspects are Muhwezi Tumuramye, Gerald, Byamukama, and two others.

It’s alleged that on the 20th of this month, someone stole the boat belonging to the deceased, and in a bid to look for it, the deceased picked up Muhwezi Tumuramye’s boat with his two sons.

The deceased got his boat with only one, identified as Bosco, who refused to return it to him. Later, Mugisa returned his friend’s boat to where it was.

Julius Allan Hakiza, the Albertine Regional Police Spokesperson, told this publication that when Mugisa took back the boat, he found Muhwezi Tumuramye, Gerald, Byamukama, and the other two very bitter.

As the deceased was going home, the suspects followed him, and since then he has went missing.

Hakiza stressed that the lifeless body of Gard Mugisa was discovered in the Kyegombe forest near the River Muzizi on February 25, 2024.

Five suspects have been arrested to aid police with investigations.
