Education takes lion’s share as Kiryandongo approves Shs 39.8bn budget for FY2025/26

Hon. Aliguma emphasized that the budget’s approval marks a critical step in delivering improved social services and driving development across Kiryandongo.

Kiryandongo: The Kiryandongo District Council has approved Shs39,885,584,000 budget for the 2025/2026 financial year, with education receiving the largest share.

According to the budget breakdown; sources for the revenue include; local raised revenue Shs 2.3 billion, discretionary government transfer Shs 4.2 billion, conditional government transfer Shs 29.6 billion, external financing Shs1.7 billion and other revenue Shs 2.1 billion.

The Education sector was allocated Shs 14.76 billion, followed by the Health sector with Shs 9.64 billion.

District Chairperson Hon. Aliguma Edith Adyeeri highlighted key development priorities, including road infrastructure such as the Panyadoli-Kente-Kimogora and Kigumba-Apodrwa-Mboira roads and the relocation of Namilyango Primary School.

Hon. Mwesigwa Steven expressed optimism that the budget’s slight increase will help enhance social services, while Hon. Baraza Cherlse praised the focus on education, calling it vital for securing the future of the youth.

Deputy RDC Akakwetereho Jonathan urged councilors to ensure proper implementation of the budget and combat corruption to ensure residents benefit fully.
