Dr. Balaam Barugahara: A beacon of hope and leadership in Uganda’s political landscape
Yet, his love for Uganda transcends political affiliations; he is a patriot through and through.
Op-Ed: In a political landscape where true leadership often feels like a rare commodity, Minister Dr. Balaam Barugahara stands out as a beacon of hope and dedication.
Despite being relatively new to his ministerial position, Dr. Barugahara has quickly outshined many of his counterparts in both the Cabinet and Parliament, proving that leadership is not about tenure but impact.
Dr. Barugahara’s commitment to the youth of Uganda is nothing short of inspiring. Unlike many leaders who are content with the comfort of their offices, Dr. Barugahara is a man of the field.
He believes in mingling with the wananchi, the ordinary citizens because he understands that the real issues affecting Ugandans are best understood on the ground. His empathy and swift responses to the challenges facing youth have made him a beloved figure, not just within the corridors of power but across the nation.
What truly sets Dr. Barugahara apart is his fearless approach to governance. He is not one to shy away from difficult conversations, even with the highest office in the land.
He has demonstrated rare courage in informing the President about the real issues affecting the population, a task that many leaders either avoid or sugarcoat.
His honesty and transparency have earned him respect from both his supporters and critics alike.
Energetic and passionate, Dr. Barugahara feels deeply for Uganda, much like he does for his own family. His vision is clear: no one should be left behind.
This guiding principle is evident in his work at the Ministry of Youth and Children Affairs, where he has bravely taken to the floor of Parliament to highlight the ministry’s achievements, despite facing opposition.
His resilience in the face of sabotage only further cements his reputation as a leader who will not be deterred from his mission. Dr. Barugahara’s unwavering loyalty to the National Resistance Movement (NRM) is unquestionable.
He embodies the values and vision of the NRM to his very core. Yet, his love for Uganda transcends political affiliations; he is a patriot through and through.
His tireless efforts to uplift the youth are reminiscent of the dedication seen in Gen. Muhoozi Keinerugaba, another great leader of our time. A recent highlight of Dr. Barugahara’s commitment was his outstanding speech at the burial of Tamale Mirundi, where he addressed critics of the NRM, particularly the National Unity Platform (NUP).
In his speech, he challenged those who claim to have alternatives to Uganda’s problems to present even one viable solution, urging them instead to unite and work with the NRM for the good of all Ugandans, especially the youth. His words were not only a call for unity but also a testament to his belief that Uganda’s progress depends on leaders who are willing to listen to and work with the people.
Dr. Barugahara stands as a minister second only to Prime Minister Robinah Nabanja and a few other ministers like Frank Tumwebaze, Bright Rwamirama, Judith Nabakooba, and Sam Mayanja, who are known not as office ministers but as field ministers. His hands-on approach to leadership exemplifies how ministers should engage with the people to drive national development.
We must thank Dr. Balaam Barugahara for his incredible efforts to reach out to the youth and restore their hopes with words of courage and wisdom. With leaders like him, the youth of Uganda truly have a future full of promise.
Uganda is blessed to have a leader who embodies the nation’s hope, energy, and future. If only there were twenty more leaders like him, Uganda would undoubtedly be on an unstoppable path to greatness.
