Busoga Agro Limited seeks justice over land dispute in Hoima
The company now demands uninterrupted access to the land and compensation for losses incurred due to the ongoing dispute.

Hoima: Busoga Agro Limited is seeking justice to fully utilize 353 hectares of land in Omukihani Forest Reserve, Rusagura Village, Kitoba Sub-County, Hoima District, which was leased to them by the Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom.
On January 6, 2017, Busoga Agro Limited was allocated the land by His Royal Highness Dr. Solomon Gafabusa Iguru I, Omukama of Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom, under a 49-year lease.
The Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom cabinet later allocated an additional 97 hectares to the company. However, conflict arises when one Justus Rutaisire also claims part of the same land, saying he was allocated a portion by the Kingdom.
Johnson Akanyijuka, Operations Manager of Busoga Agro Limited, states that Rutaisire’s intrusion has prevented them from fully utilizing the land.
The company now demands uninterrupted access to the land and compensation for losses incurred due to the ongoing dispute.
Justus Rutaisire argues that it is the Kingdom’s responsibility as the landlord to clarify boundaries between tenants and resolve the issue.
Alex Katusabe, Chief Administrative Secretary, declined to comment and Franklin Kyomugisa, Kingdom Spokesperson, cited an ongoing court case, preventing an official statement.
