Bunyoro PLU supporters call for retirement of Muhoozi from army
He expressed confidence that under Gen. Muhoozi's leadership, Uganda would avoid the instability faced by countries like Libya and Sudan.
Hoima: The supporters of have joined the growing list of groups urging President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni to retire Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba from forces so that he can contest in the 2026 presidential bid.
During a press conference held on Wednesday, August 28, 2024 at Best of the Best Gardens, the group’s mobilizers from different districts of the Bunyoro sub region expressed their eagerness to witness Uganda’s first peaceful transition of power.
Jovan Alinaitwe, also known as Anointed Muhoozi, spoke on behalf of the youths in the Bunyoro sub-region, stating that they appreciate the achievements of the NRM government under President Museveni’s leadership.
However, they believe that Gen. Muhoozi is the best person to carry on the NRM legacy and address the issue of corruption, which they feel has not been adequately tackled by the current regime.
Alinaitwe expressed confidence that Gen. Muhoozi would bring new innovations to Uganda and protect the country peacefully. They are urging President Museveni to retire him from the forces and allow him to join active politics, citing the president’s own words about someone who would not tolerate corruption.
Stella Kobugabe, a youth supporter of the Patriotic League of Uganda, expressed her gratitude to President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for his efforts in streamlining education, ensuring security, and maintaining peace in the country.
She echoed the sentiments of her fellow youths in the Bunyoro sub-region, affirming that they believe Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba has the potential to create jobs for young people, given his understanding of their needs and concerns.
Prince Katerega, the publicity secretary of the Patriotic League of Uganda in Kiryadongo District, emphasized the need for a president who will protect and build upon the achievements of the NRM government.
He argued that Gen. Muhoozi is best suited for this role, citing his military experience and successes in battles such as Garamba, Somalia, and Operation Shuja in Congo.
Katerega expressed confidence that under Gen. Muhoozi’s leadership, Uganda would avoid the instability faced by countries like Libya and Sudan.
Desire Nkuruziza, the LC1 Nyairongo, reveals that they are always in the field doing mobilization, and the people are very ready to support the patriotic league of Uganda under Gen. Muhoozi.
The Patriotic League of Uganda’s endorsement of Gen. Muhoozi’s potential presidential bid continues to gain momentum.
