He argued that the anti-illegal fishing operation has left fishermen without livelihoods after their fishing gear was confiscated and destroyed.

Hoima: The Bunyoro Region Parliamentary Caucus has announced plans to request additional road tarmacking when they meet President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni this week.
This was revealed on Monday during a preparatory meeting at Kasingo, Hoima District Headquarters, ahead of the President’s Parish Development Model (PDM) regional tour, which starts today, Tuesday, March 18, 2025.
During the meeting, Dr. Emily Kugonza, the Buyanja East MP in Kibaale District, presented a joint speech prepared by Bunyoro leaders for their session with the President on Thursday in Kiryandongo District.
“We will request the President to prioritize the tarmacking of more roads in the Bunyoro region which include; Biis- Masindi road among others,” Dr. Kugonza stated.
Rt. Hon. Robinah Nabbanja, the Prime Minister of Uganda, encouraged Bunyoro residents to welcome Museveni warmly and show appreciation for his contributions to the region.
‘’We should show love and appreciate Museveni for the developments in Bunyoro which include; the airport, stadium, university among other,’’ she said.
Matia Kasaija, the Minister of Finance, urged the people of Bunyoro to work hard and move beyond their comfort zones to achieve greater economic development.
Meanwhile, Denis Hamson Obua, the Government Chief Whip, called on leaders to put aside political differences and focus on development instead of arguing over venues set for the President’s meetings.
Meanwhile, residents in Buliisa District are urging their leaders to address pressing challenges affecting their communities:
Godwin Kyosaba, a resident of Bugana-Kichooke, Buliisa Sub-County, wants leaders to raise concerns about elephant attacks, which have claimed several lives.
He emphasized that the elephant problem needs urgent intervention from the government.
Sheikh Adnan, from Butiaba Town Council, urged leaders to discuss the removal of Uganda People’s Defense Force (UPDF) soldiers from Lake Albert.
He argued that the anti-illegal fishing operation has left fishermen without livelihoods after their fishing gear was confiscated and destroyed.
Other pressing issues include flooding and animal intrusions, which have left victims in need of government support, unstable power supply in parts of Bunyoro, water scarcity during dry seasons, despite the availability of tap water points and also delayed compensation by the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) for damages caused by wild animals.
According to the official schedule, the President will spend a week in the region, meeting farmers, commissioning key projects, and engaging with local leaders and residents.
Museveni will start his tour by meeting three PDM model farmers in Buliisa, Kikuube, and Hoima City on Tuesday.
