Buliisa man dies in Hoima road accident

Hoima: A 43-year-old man from Buliisa District tragically lost his life in a road accident on Monday after being hit by a speeding vehicle in Hoima District.
The deceased has been identified as Robert Tumusiime, son of Mr. Edward Byenkya, the Vice Chairperson of Kihungya Sub County, and a resident of Kabaseka Village, Nyeramya Parish, Kihungya Sub County in Buliisa.
According to eyewitnesses, the incident occurred around 11:00 AM along the Hoima–Buliisa road, specifically between Kapapi Trading Center and Waaki River in Kapapi Sub County, Hoima District.
Tumusiime was reportedly riding his Bajaji motorcycle with registration UFS 494H from the Kihungya side of Buliisa heading toward Kapapi Trading Center when he was hit and fatally injured by a speeding black Toyota Harrier with registration UBP 234P.
The LC1 Chairperson of Kabaseka Village, Mr. Ronald Mujuni, confirmed the incident, stating he received a call from a resident about the tragic occurrence.
Mujuni further alleged that the deceased may have been under the influence of alcohol at the time, potentially contributing to his failure to observe proper road discipline. He cautioned road users against drinking and driving.
Moris Onega, a male councilor representing Kapapi Parish, attributed the accident to a failure to follow traffic regulations.
Kenneth Tumusiime, the LC3 Chairperson of Kihungya Sub County, confirmed that the police responded promptly to the scene, and the body was taken for a postmortem before being handed over to the family for burial arrangements.
