In September 2022, the state house empowered 190 farmers with 594 goats, both male and female.

Ms. Hellen Akello, the private secretary to His Excellency, says the Poverty Alleviation Program has a policy of pass-on, whereby the first beneficiary is expected to pass over to the neighbor.

“As you are aware, we give family support to the community members under the program of poverty alleviation; some get it, others miss it, and in the process, those who have it are asked to hand it over to others after benefiting,” said Ms. Akello.

Ms. Akello also added that the program targets wealth, poverty eradication, and household food security.

Mr. James Okia, the village chairperson of the of the Akwarikwar model parish coordination committee, says the first beneficiaries have already benefited.

He said the first shift of people to benefit was handed over to those who missed.

“This program started slowly, but I want to report that the majority of people are benefiting from it,”  said Mr. Okia.

Ms. Jesca Adongo, one of the beneficiaries who passed on to Betty Akello, told this website that her goats have multiplied two times since the time she was given.

“I want to thank the office of the president for the support my life has received,”  said Ms. Adongo.
