Bukedea: Ikojo’s personal assistant resigns, joins rival Okwere’s Camp for vote mobilization

“If you are in the party structure and holding any position while supporting an independent candidate, you must leave the party,” Epilo said.

Bukedea: A political shock has hit Bukedea County after Sam Muron, the long-serving personal assistant to incumbent MP John Bosco Ikojo, resigned and crossed over to the camp of NRM flag bearer David Beecham Okwere.

Muron, who has served as Ikojo’s personal assistant for two terms, made the announcement during the NRM grassroots launch held on 6th December 2025 at Compassion Child Learning Centre.

He accused Ikojo of violating party regulations by deciding to run as an independent candidate after losing the NRM primaries to Okwere.

“I managed to get the NRM party flag as district councillor for Bukedea Town Council. My so-called boss failed, so I no longer work for or support him,” Muron said.

Muron pledged to fully mobilize support for Okwere and other NRM flag bearers.

“I am going to champion the mobilization of NRM flag bearers at all levels. I want to confirm that I am now for the flag bearer David Beecham Okwere, not Ikojo anymore,” he added.

Bukedea District NRM Chairperson Isaac Epilo reaffirmed that the party had instructed his office to take action against members who violate party rules.

“If you are in the party structure and holding any position while supporting an independent candidate, you must leave the party,” Epilo said.

NRM flag bearer David Beecham Okwere, who is seeking to unseat incumbent Ikojo, welcomed Muron’s defection, describing it as a positive step for party unity and effective mobilization.

“I welcome all people. The NRM is a party of peace and unity. Let us stand with the NRM manifesto and protect the gains we have achieved,” Okwere said.

According to sources, Muron’s departure comes at a critical time, with only 39 days remaining before the elections.
