Believers asked to keep time as Gulu Archdiocese prepares to welcome new Archbishop

Kitgum: The Leadership of Kitgum Vicariate has expressed its readiness to welcome the newly appointed Archbishop of Gulu Archdiocese, Most Reverend Raphael P’Mony Wokorach.

In an interview with this publication, Ms. Canogura Gladys, the Chairperson of the Parish Pastoral Council at Kitgum Christ the King Church, stated that the Installation of the new Archbishop is a multi-denominational and international event.

She called on people from different religious denominations to come and witness this historic ceremony, which is only the second installation of an Archbishop in Gulu Archdiocese since the first installation of His Grace Dr. John Baptist Odama in 1999.

Rev. Fr. Komakech Christopher, the Parish Priest at Christ the King Catholic Church, mentioned that the welcome and ushering event for the new Archbishop will start from Pakwach Bridge on Thursday, 11th July 2024, with the Christian Community of Anaka.

He added that Christian Believers from Gulu and beyond will welcome the new Archbishop from Custom Corner in Gulu City around 3pm the same day, before he is ushered in the Cathedral.

Fr. Komakech Christopher urged believers to observe the time ahead of the official installation of the new Archbishop of Gulu Archdiocese, Most Reverend Raphael P’Mony Wokorach, on Friday, 12th July 2024, at St. Joseph Cathedral in Gulu City.

Archbishop Wokorach, 63, a member of the Comboni Missionary, has been Bishop of the Nebbi Catholic Diocese since March 2021. He was born on 21st January 1961, at Ojigo Village in Wadelai, in the then Diocese of Arua.
