Arua police officers arrested for aiding escape of notorious suspects
The case has been registered under CRB:035/2025 for further investigation.

Arua: Two police officers attached to Oluko Police Post in Ayivu West Division, Arua City, have been arrested after unknown criminals allegedly broke into a police cell, freed two notorious suspects, and stole two motorcycles under their watch.
The officers, identified as Sgt Justo Wadri and Cpl Richard Kilama, were on duty when the incident occurred on February 19, 2025, at around 1:00 AM at Oluko Police Post, Amvua Cell, Ombokolo Ward, Ayivu East Division, Arua City.
According to the police, the freed suspects are Anguyo Owen, who was facing charges of shop break-ins and theft and Yoyo Benard, who had been charged with cattle theft.
West Nile Regional Police Spokesperson SP Collins Asea confirmed the arrest of the two officers and stated that investigations are ongoing.
“The incident led to the arrest of two officers, Sgt Wadri Justo and Cpl Kilama Richard, who were on duty at the time of the escape. Investigations into the incident are ongoing,” Asea’s statement reads in part.
He further revealed that the unknown criminals also stole two motorcycles registration No. UEB 260K, which belonged to Cpl Richard Kilama and an unregistered Bajaj Boxer, which had been impounded as an exhibit following an accident.
The case has been registered under CRB:035/2025 for further investigation.
