This event underscores the importance of traditional leadership in fostering community development.

Zombo: The Chairman of the Uganda Kings and Cultural Leaders Forum, His Majesty Isabaruuli Mwogezi Butamanya, the revered cultural leader of Buruuli and bearer of the title Isabarongo Mwatansozi, is set to make a historic royal visit to the Alur Kingdom on Wednesday, March 26, 2025.

The visit will see him warmly received by His Royal Highness Ubimu Philip Olarker Rauni III, the King of Alur, at his royal court in Dye-Winam, Atyak.

During this one-day engagement, Isabaruuli Mwogezi will hold a one-on-one meeting with Ubimu Rauni III to strengthen ties between their kingdoms.

According to David Rupiny, the Communication Director of the Alur Kingdom, in a press release issued on Monday, March 24, 2025, this visit is part of Isabaruuli Mwogezi’s nationwide tour of the 17 gazetted cultural leaders in Uganda.

The discussions will center on forging a partnership for socioeconomic transformation in collaboration with the international development partner, Global Peace Initiative/Family Peace Association.

Rupiny stated, “The visit is a significant step in Isabaruuli Mwogezi’s ongoing mission to unite Uganda’s cultural leaders and explore partnerships with the Global Peace Initiative/Family Peace Association, an international organization committed to socioeconomic progress.”

Following the royal meeting, the two leaders will address a gathering of Ker Alur Chiefs and their spouses, alongside the Prime Minister, and a select group of women leaders during a press conference.

This event underscores the importance of traditional leadership in fostering community development.

The Global Peace Initiative envisions itself as a catalyst for collaboration, creating social compacts between governments, multilateral agencies, the private sector, and civil society. Its mission is to inspire innovative solutions to persistent challenges to peace and development across the globe.

This historic visit comes just three weeks after Rwoth David Onen Achana II, the Paramount Chief of Acholi, visited Kal Atyak Winam, the Alur Kingdom palace in Zombo District, signaling a growing unity among Uganda’s cultural institutions.
